BIOGRAPHY

Bleuette Bernon, born Léontine Ernestine Gauché, is a pioneering figure in early cinema, particularly celebrated for her collaborations with the legendary filmmaker Georges Méliès. As one of the first prominent female character actors, Bernon graced the screen in several of Méliès's inventive films during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Among her standout performances, she portrayed the title role in the 1899 short "Jeanne d'Arc" and brought to life the enchanting character of Cinderella in "Cendrillon" the same year. Collectors of physical media often seek out Bernon’s work, especially her role as Aurora in the 1903 classic "The Kingdom of the Fairies." This film is a treasure in any collection, representing the early magic of narrative cinema and the innovative spirit of Méliès. Her brief appearance as a "lady in the Moon" in the iconic "A Trip to the Moon" (1902) further solidifies her status in film history. Bernon's contributions remain integral to understanding the evolution of character acting and storytelling in film.
