BIOGRAPHY

Carmen Yazalde, originally known as María do Carmo Ressurreição de Deus, carved a unique niche in the world of cult cinema during the 1970s. Her standout role in Amando de Ossorio's horror classic "Tombs of the Blind Dead" (1972) captivated audiences and laid the groundwork for her subsequent collaborations with the notorious director Jesús Franco. Notably, her performance in "A Virgin Among the Living Dead" (1973) remains a highlight, where she portrayed a peculiar character amidst a surreal family gathering, cementing her status in the genre. This film, along with her other works, has earned a dedicated following among collectors, particularly for its striking visuals and Franco's signature style. After marrying Argentine soccer star Casimiro Yazalde and relocating to Argentina in 1977, Carmen transitioned into modeling while maintaining her connection to the entertainment industry. Her films, especially the more obscure titles like "Daughter of Dracula" (1972) and "Dracula, Prisoner of Frankenstein" (1972), are highly sought after by collectors for their rarity and the sheer eccentricity of Franco's storytelling. Today, her contributions continue to resonate with fans of physical media, making her a notable figure in the realm of vintage horror cinema.
