BIOGRAPHY

Jack Kinney stands as a foundational figure in animation, a name synonymous with the golden age of Walt Disney Studios and beyond. Starting in 1931, Kinney honed his craft as an animator on classics like *The Band Concert* (1935) before ascending to direct some of Disney's most iconic shorts, particularly those starring Goofy. His discerning eye also shaped sequences for feature films such as *Pinocchio* (1940) and *Dumbo* (1941), alongside helming beloved "package films" like *The Three Caballeros* (1944). Collectors often seek out his work for its undeniable artistry and historical significance. Kinney's theatrical shorts, especially the Goofy "How To" series, are prime examples of classic animation, often found on early DVD and Blu-ray compilations that preserve these gems. Later, after founding Jack Kinney Productions in 1959, he also contributed to the King Features *Popeye* series, a staple for many Saturday morning cartoon enthusiasts. His work, like the 1954 *Social Lion*, represents a captivating era of hand-drawn animation, making every physical release a piece of cinematic heritage worth owning.
