Shao Lo-Hui, a prominent figure in Taiwanese cinema, left an indelible mark on the film industry with his work as an actor, director, and writer. Born Shao Shouli in Tainan, he honed his craft at the Imperial Film and Drama School in Tokyo before embarking on a successful acting career with Shochiku Pictures. His return to Taiwan post-World War II saw him not only act but also direct significant works, including the 1955 classic "Six Gifted Scholars' Romance of the West-Chamber," which is a beloved piece in the Hokkien language canon. Collectors particularly seek out Shao's contributions to the horror genre, notably "Okinawan Horror: Upside-Down Ghost" and "Chinese Horror: Breaking a Coffin" from 1962.
