12th Assistant Deacon brings a pretty chilling vibe, mixing traditional horror with some unique elements. The film follows Father Kim and his sidekick, Assistant Deacon Choi, as they attempt an exorcism on Young-shin, who just doesn’t seem to respond to their prayers and rituals. The atmosphere is heavy and loaded with tension, and you can feel that sense of dread building throughout. It’s got this slow-burn pacing that really lets the unsettling moments sink in. The practical effects are decent, giving it a gritty feel that enhances the realness of the horror. Performances, especially from the leads, carry a weight that draws you in, feeling almost raw at times. It might not be the most polished, but it’s got a certain charm in its execution.
