13 Lakes is quite a unique piece, really. It’s a documentary that presents these stunning shots of thirteen different lakes across the U.S., each framed to show half water and half sky or land. The pacing is meditative, almost like a visual essay. You get lost in the subtle changes of light and texture, and it totally immerses you in the serenity of nature. There’s no narration or interviews, which might turn some people off, but it’s refreshing in its simplicity. It’s all about the visuals and the atmosphere. You really get a sense of place and the power of the natural world. Definitely a different kind of experience, not your typical documentary fare.
