So, '25 Carat' brings this gritty vibe really well. Abel's character, played by some unknown, is this washed-up boxer who's taken a dive into debt collecting. It's raw, and you feel for him trying to juggle his kid and this not-so-great life. The chemistry with Kay, the car thief, adds a layer of tension and romance, but it quickly spirals into chaos. The pacing is interestingâstarts slow, builds up, and then bam, youâre in the middle of this heist gone wrong. It definitely leans into the darker themes of desperation and choices. And while the performances might not be award-winning, there's an authenticity to their struggles that keeps you engaged. Not your standard thriller, for sure.
Abel's character really embodies the struggles of a man at the end of his rope. The romance with Kay feels desperate but somehow hopeful. The film's pacing keeps you guessing, turning mundane moments into tension-filled sequences.
