30 Meetings / 30 Days is a gritty character study that dives deep into the struggles of addiction and the path toward recovery. The film captures Alicia's reluctant journey as she navigates through the unvarnished realities of Alcoholics Anonymous. The pacing feels very intentional, allowing us to sit with her discomfort and moments of vulnerability. There’s an authenticity in the performances, particularly with Alicia, who oscillates between resistance and an emerging sense of hope. The atmosphere is raw and sometimes heavy, but it’s that very weight that makes the moments of connection feel all the more significant. The film doesn’t shy away from the harder truths, and I found that really distinctive in how it portrays the challenges of sobriety.
