47 Meters Down is one of those thrillers that really plays on claustrophobia and primal fears. The sisters' predicament in a shark cage is just so unnerving, right? You feel the tension build as their air supply dwindles and those great whites circle, making every second feel excruciatingly long. It’s shot with a focus on the dark underwater visuals which totally adds to the oppressive atmosphere. The practical effects handle the sharks quite well, giving them a menacing realism that CGI often misses. And the performances? They do a solid job of conveying panic and desperation, which keeps you invested despite a few predictable moments. It’s more about survival than just the shark action, which I find refreshing.
Great for discussions on survival horror.Interesting use of practical effects in underwater settings.Solid example of pacing in thriller narratives.
