So, *69 (2022) is this low-key horror that plays around with the whole crank call thing, which is kinda clever. The film builds a really unsettling atmosphere as a group of friends gets pulled into this nightmarish scenario after one of them dials that number. Tina stands out, grappling with her fractured memories from a car accident. There’s this eerie tension as her past begins to intertwine with the present chaos. The pacing is deliberate, which adds to the dread, and there's a nice use of practical effects that can catch you off guard. Not overly flashy but it gets under your skin. The performances feel raw, especially Tina’s struggle to piece together her life while the horror unfolds around her. That's a nice touch.
Interesting take on the concept of crank calls.Strong central performance by lead actress.Atmospheric tension throughout the film.
