7 Virgins is quite an interesting piece from Alberto RodrĂguez. The film gives off this gritty vibe, really encapsulating the feel of a neighborhood in Sevilla. The pacing, especially in the two days leading up to the wedding, kind of creates this sense of urgency but also reflection. Tano, the young lead, is played with a mix of innocence and streetwise attitude that feels genuine. The film touches on themes of family, freedom, and the weight of choices, all while painting a vivid picture of his surroundings. The use of natural light adds to that raw atmosphere, making it feel almost documentary-like at times, which I found engaging. Not overly polished, but thatâs part of its charm.
Spanish-language film, Spanish and English subtitles available.Shot entirely on location in Sevilla, enhancing authenticity.Uses natural lighting for a more realistic feel.Part of the new wave of Spanish cinema in the 2000s.
