Fellini's 8½ is this strange blend of reality and fantasy, isn’t it? The way Guido Anselmi grapples with his creative drought is kind of haunting. You get this palpable sense of his existential crisis, but it's wrapped in this vivid dreamscape—like a film within a film. The pacing feels languid, almost like a meditation on the chaos of artistic pressure. The black-and-white cinematography really captures the surreal atmosphere. Plus, the ensemble cast brings a lot of flair; everyone from his wife to his mistress adds layers to his mental struggle. It’s a distinct take on the creative process, messy and introspective, which I find intriguing. Fellini’s style, with its quirky visuals and humor, makes it a fascinating watch.
Released in 1963, black-and-white film.Won 2 Academy Awards: Best Foreign Language Film.Fellini's semi-autobiographical narrative.Notable for its unique dream sequences.
