So, '97 Aces Go Places' is this quirky blend of action and comedy that really captures the chaotic energy of Hong Kong cinema in the late '90s. Alan Tam plays this rather wimpy triad boss, who's actually kind of endearing in his own way. The plot follows him as he tries to avenge his dad's unfortunate cardiac episode, all thanks to a card game gone wrong. There are these wild practical effects and a decent amount of physical comedy, especially with Drunk Shooter, who’s quite the character—an ace gunman with a penchant for the bottle. The pacing's all over the place, but that’s part of its charm. You lose yourself in this absurd world where triads and cat burglars collide. It’s a unique watch for those who appreciate that mix of humor and action.
