A Friend In Need is one of those thrillers that really leans into the psychological aspects of greed and deception. The atmosphere is thick with tension, especially as we watch these stockbrokers' lives spiral after that nasty little blackmail letter. The pacing feels deliberate, almost suffocating at times, which is a nice touch for the genre. You can see the moral decay depicted with stark realism. The performances bring a raw authenticity – you feel their paranoia and desperation. It’s not flashy, lacking in big-budget effects, but it makes its mark through a tight script. There's something distinctly unsettling about how the characters unravel, and that’s what makes it stick with you long after it’s over.
