A Grand Mockery is quite a curious piece, really. It dives into the life of Josie, who's just kind of drifting through this mundane existence. The way his psychic turmoil manifests is pretty intriguing, and the rainforest setting in Queensland adds a surreal twist. You feel the weight of his internal struggles as he navigates the dense, almost oppressive atmosphere of the jungle. The pacing is a bit languid, which might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it adds to that sense of suffocation and despair. The performances are raw, especially the actor portraying Josie, who really brings those psychic ills to life with some impressive practical effects. It’s distinct in its approach to psychological drama, a bit of a slow burn that lingers with you after it’s over.
