A Natural Born Fool is a curious blend of comedy and caper, directed by Ramy Imam. The film follows a hapless protagonist who, in a bid to support his upcoming wedding, dives headfirst into a world of burglary alongside his fiancée's uncle. The pacing is intentionally uneven, which adds to the chaotic charm and highlights the protagonist’s spectacularly bad decisions. The performances have a raw quality; you can feel the awkwardness and desperation seeping through the characters. There’s a lighthearted tone, but it’s laced with the tension of incompetence that makes for some genuinely funny moments. The practical effects, though modest, serve the comedic situations quite well, creating a distinctive feel that separates it from more polished comedies.
