A Nice Evil Day is one of those horror flicks that leans hard into its grim premise, starting off with a group of disposable teens making all the wrong choices. The atmosphere is thick with dread, thanks to some solid practical effects that capture the brutality of the masked killer's rampage. The pacing is a bit uneven, with some lulls between the slayings, but it somehow adds to the overall tension. The backstory of the madman is dark and twisted, bringing a certain depth to what could easily be just another slasher. Performances are mostly what you’d expect from a low-budget affair, but they manage to sell the fear well enough. It’s not groundbreaking, but there’s a raw energy to it that you can’t ignore.
