A Teachable Moment is an odd blend of comedy and drama, really plays with this juxtaposition in a striking way. The film's opening scene is particularly gripping, Henry bleeding out on the roadside while a mother tries to impart some life lessons to her young son. It’s a darkly humorous take on parenting and morality, the pacing's kind of unconventional, almost disjointed, but it works. The performances, especially from the mother, carry a lot of weight, making you ponder how we shape our kids' views of the world. There's something raw about the practical effects too, adding to that surreal atmosphere. This one’s distinctive, for sure – it lingers in your mind.
