A Twist of Christmas, directed by David Winning, leans into the classic holiday trope of unexpected partnerships. The film presents a cozy, if somewhat chaotic, atmosphere typical of family rom-coms. You’ve got these two single parents, both in the thick of holiday frenzy, who end up crossing paths in a department store—and it’s just messy enough to feel real. Their initial disdain for one another adds a bit of spice, I guess. The pacing has that nice ebb and flow of festive tension and light-hearted moments. Performances are solid, and while it's not groundbreaking, there’s something charming about the practical effects of the holiday decorations and the misadventures with the toys. It captures that essence of the holiday scramble well enough.
