Acasă, My Home is quite a raw and poignant documentary that captures the transition of a family living in the Bucharest Delta, where nature is their playground, to the harsh reality of urban life. Radu Ciorniciuc’s direction has this observational style that really lets the viewer soak in the children’s freedom and the parental bonds in those lush surroundings. The pacing, too, feels very natural – it drifts along like the river they lived by. The contrast between their serene, almost idyllic life and the stark city is striking. You feel the loss acutely. The performances, if you can call them that, are deeply genuine; it’s all real people in real situations, which adds a layer of authenticity that's hard to shake off.
