So, this production of 'Adriana Lecouvreur' from 2009 is quite something. Directed by Lorenzo Mariani, it has this stylized feel, really brings a unique tone to the piece. Marianne Cornetti as the mezzo-soprano is impressive, her presence is commanding. The atmosphere is thick with drama, and the pacing keeps you engaged throughout, with that classic mix of tension and romance. The themes of love, betrayal, and the performing arts are really highlighted. It's interesting how they’ve incorporated practical effects to enhance the storytelling. The soprano opposite her, with a strong background in Verdi and verismo, adds layers to the performance. A distinctive interpretation, for sure, worth exploring for any opera aficionado.
