Air Parade is this charming little comedy from 1938 that kinda flies under the radar. The plot revolves around Niela, who’s really had it with her kids' radio program. She teams up with Lee, and together they hatch a plan to frame the station’s big boss. The pacing is interesting – it ebbs and flows between zany moments and some surprisingly heartfelt exchanges. Not a lot of flashy effects, but the practical setups they use for the radio scenes give it a nice grounded feel. The performances, especially from Niela, have a certain warmth that makes you root for her. There’s a nice commentary on ambition and motherhood hidden in there, which definitely adds depth to the overall lighthearted atmosphere.
