Airboss IV: The X Factor is a curious entry in the late '90s action genre that tries to mix military bravado with a touch of espionage. The pacing is a bit uneven, but once it hits its stride, there are some solid action sequences worth noting. The plot involving Frank White's kidnapping and subsequent brainwashing could have been more fleshed out, but the themes of loyalty and deception are there, albeit a bit rough around the edges. The practical effects are surprisingly decent for a straight-to-video release, and while the performances may not break any new ground, they carry a certain charm. It's a distinctive piece that captures the essence of its time, even if it doesn’t fully realize its potential.
