Alice Through the Looking Glass (1987) is a curious entry in the realm of animated adaptations. The film takes a whimsical yet slightly surreal approach, combining adventure with a family-friendly atmosphere. Alice’s journey through Chessland is filled with oddball characters, like the jester and the Jabberwocky, which gives it an eccentric, dreamlike feel. The practical effects, albeit a bit dated now, lend a certain charm that digital animation often lacks. The pacing can feel uneven at times, but it has moments of delightful pacing that capture the unpredictability of Wonderland. The voice performances add layers to the characters, making them memorable in their own quirky ways. It’s definitely a different take on Lewis Carroll's work, with its own unique vibe.
