Alien Addiction is an interesting blend of comedy and sci-fi that feels very much like a quirky indie film. Its charm really lies in the small-town setting of Waikato, which adds this offbeat atmosphere to the whole story. Riko is a relatable protagonist, and the relationship with the aliens has this absurd yet oddly touching quality. The pacing is laid-back, letting you soak in the humor and eccentricities of the plot, especially with the fame-hungry blogger breathing down their necks. The practical effects are refreshingly low-key but effective enough to keep you engaged. Performances are solid, with a nice mix of whimsy and earnestness. It's definitely a distinctive take on alien encounters, playing more for laughs than thrills.
