Anthony Zimmer is one of those films that blends romance, crime, and a touch of existential dread with a captivating atmosphere. Jérôme Salle’s direction gives it a pacing that feels just right, allowing tension to build naturally as François, played by the solid Benoît Magimel, gets pulled into a web of intrigue. The Côte d'Azur backdrop is beautifully shot, and the score really complements the sense of unease throughout. Sophie Marceau is striking as the enigmatic woman, adding layers to an already twisty narrative. It’s a bit of a puzzle, this film, with its themes of identity and deception. Not to mention, the practical effects and stunts feel refreshingly grounded amidst the modern thrillers of today.
