Aquaphobia is this intriguing little gem from 2018 that really captures that unsettling tension in such a short runtime. The film opens with this woman swimming in a pool, and you can almost feel the water enveloping her, but there’s this sense of dread lurking just beneath the surface. The pacing is tight, effectively building suspense in its brief 15 seconds. The practical effects, while minimal, are quite impactful in their execution; they echo that classic horror vibe without needing a ton of gore. It’s fascinating how a simple setting can evoke such a palpable fear, and the lack of a known director adds this air of mystery around it. Definitely a unique piece in the horror short film landscape.
Interesting use of limited runtime.Effective build-up of suspense.Unique take on fear in a familiar setting.
