So, Ark IX. It's this gritty animated film that sets itself in a post-apocalyptic world split by a massive wall to keep out this creepy 'Dark mist'. I mean, the setup is interesting, right? The pacing is a bit uneven at times, but there's a strong noir vibe with Shido Enishi, our detective, navigating the murky underbelly of the ninth Ark. The animation has a raw edge to it, reminiscent of some classic 90s stuff, which gives it a unique atmosphere. The themes of isolation and survival are pretty layered, though they sometimes get overshadowed by the action sequences. The performances, even in animation, manage to convey a lot of emotion. It's definitely a distinctive piece in the action-animation genre, but not without its quirks.
