Around the World in 80 Days (2004) is a fun romp that leans heavily into its wild action-adventure roots while sprinkling in comedy along the way. Frank Coraci directs a colorful cast, including Jackie Chan, who brings his signature physicality to the role of the Chinese thief. The film’s pacing is brisk, never letting up for too long, which matches the zany premise of racing around the globe. You’ll find some interesting practical effects, although the CGI can feel a bit dated now. The chemistry between the leads keeps the lighthearted tone buoyant, and it really embraces that globetrotting spirit. It’s not the most serious adaptation of Jules Verne's classic, but it definitely makes for an entertaining watch.
