Around The World In 80 Days (2000) takes Jules Verne's classic tale and gives it an animated twist that’s quite different from the live-action versions. The pacing is brisk, matching the urgency of Fogg's ambitious wager. The animation style is vibrant, but there’s a certain charm in its simplicity that allows the viewer to focus on the story and the journey itself. Phileas Fogg is detailed with quirks that make him relatable, especially in his interactions with Passepartout, who provides a nice balance of humor and camaraderie. You get a mix of cultures as they hop from one location to another, and while the film doesn't delve too deeply into themes of colonialism, it does show a world of adventure and camaraderie that feels very much alive. Worth a watch for those looking for something different.
