Astrid is a real curiosity in the horror and thriller space. It has this unsettling atmosphere that really captures the viewer. The pacing is deliberate, allowing you to dwell on the girl's loneliness and the depths of her disturbed psyche. There's something quite eerie about how close she gets to her victims; it's like you can feel the tension building. A lot of practical effects are used, and I think they really heighten the horror, giving it a raw edge. The performances, especially from the lead, do a nice job of conveying her emotional turmoil. Overall, it's not your run-of-the-mill horror flick—there's a depth to it that sticks with you, even if it’s not always easy to watch.
Atmospheric tension throughout.Strong use of practical effects.Character study wrapped in horror.
