So, 'At the Door' is this really interesting short horror film from 2013. It’s minimalistic, which I kind of appreciate. The pacing is slow but intentional, creating this oppressive atmosphere. You’ve got a sleepy guy – just the everyday sort – who starts hearing this persistent knocking. It plays on that primal fear of the unknown, you know? What’s behind that door? It utilizes practical effects effectively, keeping the tension high without overdoing it. The sound design really enhances the experience, making you feel every creak and knock. Not much in terms of performances given the limited run time, but it’s all very effective in setting a mood. It’s a neat little entry in the Four4 Very Short Horror Film Competition that showcases how less can sometimes be more.
