Attack (1986) is an interesting exploration of military life in a Soviet tank regiment. The young lieutenant, who seems to defy the traditional training methods, brings a unique approach that stirs the pot among his troops and superiors. The atmosphere is quite tense, showcasing the constant push and pull of authority and camaraderie. The pacing has its slower moments, which really allow you to soak in the characters' struggles and growth. There's a practical realism to the tank exercises that keeps you engaged, and while the romance aspect feels a bit secondary, it adds depth to the lieutenant's character. Performances are earnest, and you get a real sense of the cultural backdrop of the time. Not your typical war film for sure, but it offers a different lens on the complexities of leadership and loyalty.
Interesting take on military training.Distinctive character dynamics.Genuine performances and tension.
