So, 'Atti impuri all'italiana' is this 1976 Italian comedy that really plays with the quirks of sexuality and societal norms, you know? The whole setup is based around this vibrant little village, Montecatini Terme, after the death of its village doctor. Enter Dr. Elijah Bonvicini, a young and striking woman, and suddenly, the clinic is flooded with townsfolk, both men and women, grappling with their own sexual frustrations. There’s a certain lightness in the dialogue that feels playful, mixed with a cheeky exploration of human desire. The pacing has this almost frenetic charm, and while I can’t pinpoint the director, the performances, especially by the lead, add a distinctive layer to the narrative. It’s a curious blend of comedy and social commentary, definitely not your run-of-the-mill affair.
This film has a bit of a checkered history when it comes to formats and availability. While it may not be the most mainstream title, there’s a niche collector interest in it, especially given its unique premise and comedic tone. There are various DVD releases floating around, but original prints are less common, making it a nice find for those who appreciate the quirky side of Italian cinema from the '70s.
