Avenge But One of My Two Eyes is quite a striking piece, really. It interweaves the ancient stories of Samson and Masada with the modern-day conflict in the Occupied Territories. Avi Mograbi’s approach is raw, almost haunting at times, and he doesn’t shy away from showing the brutality of the situation. The pacing fluctuates, sometimes slow, allowing the viewer to absorb the weight of what’s happening, then jolting you with stark images. There’s a palpable tension throughout, and the way he captures the environment feels almost like a character in itself. The film serves as a melancholic reflection on violence and its cyclical nature, leaving a lingering sense of unease. It’s definitely a challenging watch, but that’s what gives it its depth.
