Bad Company (1972) is this interesting blend of drama and Western vibes. You’ve got these young drifters, and it’s not your typical gun-slinging narrative. Drew Dixon, played by Barry Brown, really captures that naïve hopefulness. The pacing feels leisurely, almost dreamy at times, which lets you soak up the desolation of the landscape—super effective. There's this low-key, gritty realism throughout; Benton doesn't sugarcoat the struggles. And then there’s the ensemble cast, including Jeff Bridges, who really makes the whole thing feel lived-in. The film’s score adds this haunting layer that hangs over everything. It’s a unique take on coming-of-age amid chaos, and it really stands apart from other Westerns of the era.
