Bajan Heat is a curious blend of adventure and crime wrapped in a pretty package of sun-soaked Barbados. The film has this gritty undercurrent, despite the tropical setting, as it delves into the life of Dan, an ex-military guy with more than a few skeletons in his closet. The pacing is a bit uneven at times, but the atmosphere really draws you in, especially when Dan teams up with the local cop, Sammy. Their dynamic is interesting, filled with tension and some camaraderie, but it’s Dan’s personal demons that keep surfacing, making for a layered narrative. You can see the struggles of his character in the performances, and while the practical effects aren't groundbreaking, they serve the story well enough. It’s a peculiar watch, for sure.
