So, there's this short animated gem called 'Balloons' from 2007 that really plays with the idea of possession, but in a whimsical way. You have these two little guys, floating high up, tied to their own balloons. The visuals are charming, and the animation has that playful, almost childlike quality. The pacing feels just right—slow enough to savor the moments but quick enough to keep you engaged. It's got this nice atmosphere, like a daydream where the sky's the limit, but then the theme of rivalry sneaks in as each character thinks the sky is his. It's a unique piece, especially considering it came from the NFB's Hothouse program. I think it's worth a watch, if only to appreciate its simplicity and the playful tension.
