So, Bang! (1986) is this curious experimental piece that toys with animation in a way that feels fresh and almost cerebral. The film starts with a static photograph of an airplane, and then, like magic, it morphs into a wireframe diagram—a neat transition that sets the tone for what’s to come. The atmosphere is a bit surreal, almost dreamlike, as it flows into the animated plane gliding through the sky. The pacing is unusual, keeping you on your toes, and then, just when you think you’ve got it figured out, it explodes into a cascade of words. It’s definitely distinct, playing with visual language in a way that’s quite unique for its time. Not your typical animation, that’s for sure.
