Barbara Broadcast (2006) is this unusual drama that really plays with the idea of isolation. Two friends are stuck in this room, and it’s not just the physical space that binds them but this creeping sense of dread. The pacing is deliberate, almost suffocating at times, which perfectly complements the weird atmosphere. You can feel the tension building as they swap these bizarre stories, but there’s this underlying horror that comes from their inability to escape, both literally and metaphorically. The performances are raw and authentic, really drawing you into their spiraling descent. It’s not flashy in terms of effects, but it uses its simplicity to deliver a more profound impact. Definitely one of those films that lingers with you after it’s over.
