Barbed Wire is an interesting piece, really. It has this raw, visceral quality that pulls you in. The pacing feels deliberate, almost meditative at times, but there’s an underlying tension that keeps bubbling up. Harvey, the old man, is portrayed beautifully, and his struggle against the encroaching development is compelling. The setting in Patagonia adds this bleak, isolated atmosphere that amplifies the themes of resistance and survival. The practical effects in moments of confrontation are striking—gritty and harsh, which contrasts with the more tender moments between Harvey and his kids. It’s rough around the edges but has a unique charm that sticks with you. Definitely not your conventional drama.
