So, 'Belle Enfant' is an interesting mix of comedy and drama. The tone is quite whimsical, but then it dives into some darker themes around family and mental health. Emily, the main character, feels like this sort of free spirit, estranged from her family – you really get the sense of her loneliness. The pacing is a bit uneven, which works for the narrative, especially when you consider the setup with her mother's suicide attempt. It’s almost laughable in a satirical way. The performances carry a lot of weight, especially with how they handle the eccentricities of the family dynamics. Nothing feels overdone or too polished, which adds to its charm. Definitely a unique narrative voice throughout.
