Betty Blue is a gut-wrenching dive into passion and madness. The film captures the rawness of a relationship on the brink, with BĂ©atrice Dalle's performance as Betty really stealing the show. It's beautifully shotâlots of rich colors and moody lighting that really accentuates the emotional turmoil. The pacing can be languid at times, but it kind of works with the story's descent into chaos. Themes of love, desperation, and artistic struggle are woven throughout, making it feel deeply personal. Plus, the practical effects during her unraveling are striking. You can really feel the weight of their reality, which adds to the film's intensity. Not your typical romance, that's for sure.
