Big Executive is an interesting mix of drama and romance, a product of its time that really captures the complexities of human relationships. The film revolves around a stockbroker caught in a web of emotional turmoil after his wife’s tragic death, which he becomes entangled in due to the circumstances of his love affair. The performances are quite telling, especially when you consider the era; there’s an intensity that feels genuine. The pacing has a nice ebb and flow, drawing you into the moral dilemmas faced by the characters. Practical effects aren't the highlight here, but the atmosphere is thick with tension and regret, making it a distinctive piece from the early '30s. Kenton’s direction gives it a certain weight that resonates well even today.
