Big Game brings a unique blend of action and adventure, delivered with a distinct Finnish flair. The film dives into themes of maturity and survival, as we follow young Oskari, who sets out to prove himself in the wilderness, only to stumble upon the President of the United States. The pacing has a nice rhythm, balancing tension with moments of levity. Jalmari Helander’s direction shines through, especially in how practical effects are used to create the wilderness backdrop and the chaos of the shoot-down. The performances, particularly by the young actor playing Oskari, bring a genuine sense of innocence and bravery. There's an odd charm in its combination of serious stakes and a coming-of-age story that sets it apart.
Interesting take on the survival genre.Great use of practical effects enhances realism.A mix of tense moments with lightheartedness.
