Billionaire Boy is an interesting blend of comedy and drama, directed by Matt Lipsey, which I think captures a certain quirkiness. You’ve got Len, this over-the-top character who struck gold with his toilet roll invention, and then there’s his son Joe, navigating childhood wealth in a lonely world. The film does a nice job exploring themes of friendship and the emptiness that sometimes accompanies privilege. The pacing is pretty brisk, but it allows for some genuinely touching moments. Performances are solid, especially from the young actor playing Joe; he brings a lot of heart. Oh, and the practical effects in the family’s extravagant lifestyle are worth noting—it adds a playful touch to the whole atmosphere.
Good exploration of familial relationships.Solid performances, especially from the young lead.Interesting take on childhood in a wealthy environment.
