Blackbird (2007) offers a raw, gritty look at addiction through the lens of two troubled souls. Set against the backdrop of 1990s New York, it captures a kind of desperation and intimacy that’s hard to shake off. The pacing is uneven but it kinda works, reflecting the chaotic lives of Froggy and Baylis. The performances, especially from the leads, feel genuine, almost like you're intruding on their very private pain. There’s a rough edge to the film that really brings out the themes of love and loss in a world overshadowed by drugs. Not the kind of film you’d call polished, but that’s part of its charm. It feels real, unfiltered, and definitely distinct in its portrayal of a downward spiral.
