Blade Of Honor has this gritty feel, like it’s channeling the classic space operas but with a twist. The atmosphere is pretty tense given the constant threat from the Calinar. You see, Arina Kartades’ visions of Yuni add a layer of mystique to the narrative. The pacing fluctuates, sometimes lingering on character development, which is nice, and other times hitting you with those intense action sequences. The practical effects, though not on par with big-budget productions, have a certain charm that feels nostalgic. The performances range from solid to a bit wooden, but they fit the overall tone, and that’s what sticks with you. It’s definitely one of those films that might not be for everyone, but it has its own unique vibe.
