So, 'Blondie's Big Deal' is this quirky little comedy from 1949, directed by Edward Bernds. You’ve got Dagwood Bumstead, who's always a bit of a lovable oaf, finding this non-flammable paint. The plot takes a turn when the bad guys, Dillon and Stack, get their hands on it before Dagwood can show it off to his boss, Radcliffe. The pacing is pretty brisk, typical of the era, with plenty of slapstick moments. Dagwood's attempt to impress Radcliffe by painting his house leads to some hilarious misadventures. The performances are charmingly over-the-top, which adds a delightful layer to the chaos. It’s really a nice example of that blend of suburban life and absurdity that characterizes the Blondie series.
Features classic slapstick humor.Insight into post-war American suburban life.Interesting use of practical effects with paint.
