Blood Widow is an interesting dive into rural horror. The atmosphere is thick with tension, especially as Laurie and Hugh settle into their new weekend retreat, completely unaware of the dark past lurking next door. The pacing is deliberate, slowly building dread while intertwining the present with the echoes of that horrific massacre at the old boarding school. Practical effects are used effectively, enhancing the overall unsettling vibe without relying too much on CGI. Performances are solid, capturing that naïve enthusiasm of the couple before the nightmare unfolds. What stands out, really, is how it blends psychological horror with some classic slasher elements, creating a sense of inevitability that lingers long after the credits roll.
